Orange Cran-Apple Oatmeal

Soak* oats in warm water overnight.  In the morning, add a touch more water and a dash of salt.  Heat over stove.
Add:
freshly ground flax seed
freshly cut oranges & apples
dried cranberries
dash of cinnamon & nutmeg
raw honey

This recipe was created by my girls.  :)

* soaking breaks down the phytates in grains which allows much easier digestion.  It also allows numerous enzymes to be produced which increases vitamin content, particularly B vitamins.

Happy Valentine's Day

The kiddos made these to hand out to friends & family.  I am not artsy or crafty (hence the reason I have the girls enrolled in Art classes with a real artist) but these were a snap.  Thanks Liz!

Lincoln's First (Real) Haircut

Mom, did you seriously let my hair get this long?

Ahhhhh.  This is way better.

And they even give me a "pop pop" when I'm done?  I love this haircut thing!
(did I mention I also love to say, "cheeeeeese?")

Yep, Still Winter

This is the time of year when I can't believe its only February -- WHEN is Spring? the kids really start  itching to get back outside.  Here is some footage of their dance offs from this week.  (Gabe, you are hilarious!)

Update: TGIF!

Hypothetically, if your kids were to ever "help" you by putting the bathroom soap dispensers in the dishwasher when of course they are empty and rinsed out when they are still 1/2 full of soap, you have 2 choices:

1. Spend 2 hours -- in a full sweat -- watching soap suds and water pour out of your dishwasher as you run from laundry room to kitchen with towels, buckets, rags and mops trying to keep up with the mess and maintain your sanity.  At which point you will realize you have gotten nowhere.

2. Put 1 tablespoon of fabric softener in your dishwasher, close the lid, and wait for 60 seconds.  At which point you will find not a sud in sight.  True story.

TGIF?

Patience is a virtue, my friend.  I'm an hour in and no sign of reprieve.

....on the positive side (for those who've joined us on the 40 Day Fast from Negative Thoughts/Words), my sink is very clean.
